CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 5 Virginia field hockey team (6-1, 1-0 ACC) takes on Richmond (0-6, 0-1 A10) on Sunday, Sept. 17 at 12 p.m.

The match will stream live online as ACC Network Extra contest on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app. Live stats will be available through a GameTracker link on VirginiaSports.com. Admission is free for all of Virginia’s regular-season home field hockey games.

The Cavaliers picked up their fifth-straight victory on Friday night, defeating No. 18 William & Mary, 7-2. The Tribe came into the game ranked allowing opponents to score an average of 1.50 goals per game. UVA has the top-ranked offensive in the nation, raising their season average to 6.29 goals scored per game.

Junior striker Greta Ell (Plains, Pa.) scored the first hat trick of her collegiate career in the win over William & Mary. Ell, who came into the season with 10 career goals, has scored seven in the first seven games of this year.

Senior midfielder Tara Vittese (Cherry Hill, N.J.) scored a goal and had two assists in the game against the Tribe, bringing her season point total to an NCAA-leading 43 this season with 17 goals and nine assists.

Richmond faced crosstown foe VCU on Friday, falling 3-1 to the Rams. Richmond is 0-6 this season, but four of those losses have come against ranked teams, including a 5-4 setback in the season-opener against No. 21 American. Freshman Florentine Beelaerts van Blokland leads the team in scoring with four goals and an assist.

Virginia leads the all-time series against Richmond, 35-4-1, and has won the last 11 match-ups. The Cavaliers homestand continues next weekend with a return to conference play when UVA takes on No. 10 Boston College on Friday, Sept. 22 at 5 p.m. at Turf Field.
