Catching up with the Hoos

A bunch of alumni news this morning. First, congratulations to former #UVAMGolf-er Denny McCarthy who finished up the final Web.com Tour event in 12th place and ended the season No. 25 on its PGA Tour priority list. He had four top-10 showings during the year and finished 16th on the Web.com Tour money list. Here’s a look at his place on its Top-50 list.

HUGE congratulations go out to former #UVABASE pitcher Sean Doolittle. His Washington Nationals squad will face the Cubs in the NLDS starting this Friday. On his off-day before the postseason run, he got married to his longtime girlfriend Eirann Dolan. Doolittle is one of seven former Cavaliers to be playing in the MLB postseason this year, but the only one who got hitched this week. Congratulations and best of luck to two of our favorite people!

Former #UVAMBB player Justin Anderson is participating in the SCORE (Sixers Creating Opportunities, Resources, and Encouragement for Youth) program, an intensive youth engagement initiative. Developed in partnership with faculty at Drexel University, this in-classroom program focuses on helping students develop a sense of social and emotional well being, physical strength and agility, and academic habits and skills that lead to success. The program is rooted in research-based curriculum that includes activity and outcomes metrics to measure its benefits and effectiveness for the young people who participate. Anderson, who is extremely active in many community enhancement programs, his pictured above with his buddy in the program, Daniel, a stand-out student.
