Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia men’s golf team returns to action this weekend when the Cavaliers travel to Jonesborough, Tenn., for the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. The event takes place at Blackthorn Club at The Ridge and runs Friday through Sunday.

Friday and Saturday’s rounds begin at 8:30 a.m. with each team going off from the No. 1 tee. Sunday, teams will start from both the No. 1 and No. 10 tees.

The field for this year’s tournament includes Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, East Carolina, Furman, Kansas State, Kent State, Louisville, Missouri, Penn State, Tennessee, UNC Wilmington, VCU, Villanova and Virginia Tech.

Virginia’s lineup will feature sophomore Ashton Poole (Charlotte, N.C.), junior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.), senior Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) and sophomore Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.). Freshmen WeiWei Gao (Cebu, Philippines) or Brandon Yoon (Ashburn, Va.) will round out the lineup or compete as an individual.

Virginia won last year’s tournament, setting the event’s scoring record at 35-under 829. The Cavaliers also won the tournament in 2013. Walsh was UVA’s top finisher in 2017, placing second at 11-under 205. His play included a second-round effort of 7-under 65.
