CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia field hockey freshman midfielder Pien Dicke (Den Haag, Netherlands) was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week in honors announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday (October 16).

Dicke scored the game-tying goal at No. 7 Syracuse in a 2-1 comeback win over the Orange. The midfielder set up the score by stealing the ball on the defensive end and scoring on the break. Dicke also had a crucial defensive play at the end of the game. Trailing 2-1, Syracuse had a penalty corner after time expired at the end of regulation. Dicke charged the hitter, stole the ball and knocked it out of the circle to end the corner and preserve the Cavaliers’ victory.

This is Dicke’s second ACC honor and the fourth time this season a Cavalier has been named the offensive player of the week after also earning the honor on September 25. Tara Vittese (Cherry Hill, N.J.) earned the honor in weeks two and three.

Louisville’s Taylor Stone was tabbed as Defensive Player of the Week.
