Congratulations to former #UVAWBB great Jenny Boucek. The Sacramento Kings have hired Boucek as an Assistant Player Development Coach. Boucek, who most recently was the head coach of the WNBA’s Seattle Storm, joins Becky Hammon as one of just two women with full-time coaching positions in the NBA and is just the third-ever female to be a full-time NBA coach. ESPN.com’s Mechelle Voepel speaks with Boucek in this piece.
DC United played its final game at RFK Stadium on Sunday night (Oct. 22) and one fan sported a vintage George Gelnovatch DC United jersey. The current Virginia men’s soccer head coach doubled as a coach and professional soccer player for the inaugural 1996 D.C. United team. As a collegiate soccer player at Virginia (1983-86), Gelnovatch scored 49 goals, still the fifth most in program history. Through his 28 years as a Virginia assistant and head coach he has been part of all seven of the Cavalier’s national Championships.
