The nationally-ranked Virginia women’s soccer team had a special guest come out to speak to the team prior to the Sunday match at Boston College. The University’s president-elect, Jim Ryan, gave a pep talk to the squad prior to the match. Virginia won the contest 2-1 to pick up a weekend sweep on a ACC road trip through the northeast over the weekend.

World Series

#UVABase alum Chris Taylor homered on the first pitch of the World Series Tuesday night as part of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 3-1 win over the Houston Astros. He became just the fourth player in MLB history to hit a leadoff home run in Game 1 of the World Series.
