Wilmington, N.C. – The Virginia women’s golf team shot 7-over 295 during the first round of play at the Landfall Tradition tournament and is in 10th place. Duke leads the 18-team field at 277 followed by Alabama at 278.

Freshman Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) tied the UVA freshman scoring record by shooting 4-under 68 to end the first day of play tied for third place. Her round included three birdies, an eagle and one bogey. Duke’s Ana Belac leads the field with a first round score of 66.

UVA junior Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) is in 47th place at 75 while classmate Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) is tied for 58th at 76 along with sophomore Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.). Junior Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) shot 78 and is in 80th place.

The three-day tournament runs through Sunday. Virginia is paired with UNC Wilmington and Michigan for the second round. They will start play at 10:09 p.m. from the 10th tee. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
