CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia volleyball team (5-17, 1-10 ACC) travels to face Syracuse on Sunday (Oct. 29) at 1 p.m. the Women’s Building in Syracuse, N.Y.

HOOS HITS
Virginia picked up its first ACC win of the season on Thursday, defeating Boston College 3-1 on the road.

The Cavaliers finished with 15.0 team blocks, a season-high, in the win to hold the Eagles to a .073 hitting percentage.

Sophomore Chino Anukwuem (East Hanover, N.J.) led UVA with 11 kills and eight blocks.

Redshirt sophomore Kat Young (Chantilly, Va.) has recorded seven blocks in back-to-back matches.

OPPONENT INFO
Syracuse (16-8, 8-3 ACC) has won two-straight matches, most recently defeating Virginia Tech on Friday night. The Orange is third in the ACC with a .248 hitting percentage, while second in opponent hitting percentage (.178). Syracuse also ranks second in blocks, averaging 2.70 per set, and lead the league in holding opponents to 1.59 blocks per set. Santita Ebangwese leads the ACC with a .413 hitting percentage and is second with 1.37 blocks per set.

This will be the 10th all-time meeting between UVA and Syracuse. Virginia has lost its last four matches to the Orange, with its most recent win coming in 2003. The Cavaliers’ only win at Syracuse was a 3-1 victory on Sept. 5, 1992.
