Wilmington, N.C. – Inclement weather and unplayable course conditions forced the cancellation of the third round of play at The Landfall Tradition on Sunday morning at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C. As a result, UVA freshman Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) finished as the co-medalist at the event along with Duke’s Ana Belac. Both players shot 9-under 135 through 36 holes. She becomes the first UVA golfer to win a multi-team tournament as a freshman in the program’s history.

Lillie opened the tournament with a 4-under 68 on Friday and then set UVA’s freshman scoring mark on Saturday by posting a round of 5-under 67. She had eight birdies, an eagle and just one bogey in 36 holes of play.

Virginia placed eighth in the 18-team field at 11-over 587. Duke took home the team title at 562, one shot better than second-place Alabama.

UVA junior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) finished 34th at 4-over 148 while junior Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) was 55th at 151. Sophomore Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was 69th place at 153 and junior Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) was 79th at 155.

Next weekend the Hoos head to San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, for Baylor’s Battle at the Beach to wrap up their fall season.
