UVA is Seventh After 36 Holes at Battle at the Beach

San Lucas, Mexico – The No. 21 Virginia women’s golf team shot 7-over 291 during Saturday’s second round of play at the Battle at the Beach at Club Campestre San Jose Golf Club in San Lucas, Mexico. The Cavaliers’ two-day total of 13-over 581 finds them in seventh place entering Sunday’s final round.
Oklahoma leads the 14-team field at 6-under 562.
Sophomore Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) led Virginia with a score of even par 71 to move up to 11th place at 1-over 143. Freshman Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) shot 2-over 73 and dropped back to 17th place at 144. Junior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) also carded a second-round score of 73 and is in 25th place at 145.
UVA junior Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) posted a round of 74 and improved to 42nd at 149 while junior Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) shot 75 for the second consecutive day and is in 48th place at 150.
Sophomore Jue Hee Bae (Chantilly, Va.), who is competing as a non-scoring individual, is in 66th place at 155. She shot 76 on Saturday.
Wake Forest’s Jennifer Kupcho carries a one-shot lead into the final round with a two-day total of 5-under 137.
