CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The Virginia men’s and women’s squash teams will host five schools in matches at the McArthur Squash Center beginning on Friday (Nov. 17). The weekend matches will be the first home competitions for the Cavaliers since becoming a varsity program.

The No. 13 Virginia women’s team will begin the weekend hosting No. 5 Stanford in the program’s home opener on Friday at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Cavalier women will host No. 2 Penn at noon, followed by the No. 17 Cavalier men hosting the No. 5 Quakers at 2 p.m. The men will host three matches on Sunday, competing against Gettysburg at 11 a.m., Richmond at 1:30 p.m. and North Carolina at 4 p.m.
The Cavalier women enter the weekend with a 2-0 record, while the men hold a 1-1 record after opening the season against Dickinson and Franklin & Marshall two weeks ago. The women’s team defeated both No. 23 Dickinson and No. 18 Franklin & Marshall with a score of 8-1. The men’s team fell to the No. 22 Red Devils 7-1 before rallying to defeat the No. 15 Diplomats 5-4.
This weekend is the season opener for Stanford, Gettysburg and Richmond, while both Penn programs enter with wins over Franklin & Marshall and Drexel. North Carolina enters with a 1-0 record after defeating Sewanee 8-1.
