CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The No. 17 Virginia men’s squash team (3-2) swept Richmond (0-1) and North Carolina (1-1), 9-0, on Sunday (Nov. 19) at the McArthur Squash Center in Charlottesville, Va.

“Our matches today were against two club teams, Richmond and UNC, and were comfortable 9-0 home wins,” head coach Mark Allen said. “The matches today gave us a chance to rotate several players into our lineup that had not played this season. Freshmen Christian Kohlmeyer and Andrew Braff showed no signs of nerves as both notched 3-0 wins in their first-ever official matches for the team. This also takes the team into the Thanksgiving break with three wins and two losses, in addition to winning some momentum to take into one of our most important matches of the season on November 28 against 11th ranked and local rival George Washington in Washington.”

The Cavaliers defeated both Richmond and North Carolina in three games at all nine positions.

Junior Henry Woodworth (Weston, Mass.) scored the team’s first point against Richmond in position three, defeating Jackson McAtee, 11-4, 11-6, 11-7. Junior Killian Bubrosky (New Canaan, Conn.) won position five, freshman David Brenman (Philadelphia, Pa.) won position seven and senior Mason Blake (Philadelphia, Pa.) won position one, respectively, before senior Max Novick (Andover, Mass.) clinched the team win with an 11-3, 11-5, 11-2 victory against Daniel Beyer in position nine.

The Cavaliers concluded the match with freshman Matthew Katz (Baltimore, Md.) winning position four, freshman Chris Dalglish (Fort Washington, Pa.) winning position six, sophomore Toby Hansford (Darien, Conn.) winning position two and freshman Christian Kohlmeyer (Lake Forest, Ill.) winning position eight, respectively.

Against North Carolina, sophomore Harrison Kapp (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded the first point with an 11-3, 11-2, 11-6 win against Sharan Potluri at position seven. Virginia followed with wins from Woodworth in position three, Novick in position nine and Dalglish in position five, respectively. Hansford recorded the team’s fifth point with an 11-5, 11-7, 11-5 win against George Schmidt in position one.

Virginia rounded out the match with wins from junior Jarett Odrich (Greenwich, Conn.) in position two, junior James Dudzik (Greenwich, Conn.) in position six, freshman Andrew Braff (Locust Valley, N.Y.) in position eight and junior Grayson Bubrosky (Philadelphia, Pa.) in position four, respectively.

The Cavaliers’ match against Gettysburg did not count as injuries prevented the Bullets from meeting the minimum match requirement of seven players.

Virginia will return to action on November 28 against George Washington at the Matthew J. Grossman Squash Courts in Washington.
