CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The Virginia men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will compete at the Georgia Fall Invitational this weekend (Dec. 1-3) in Athens, Ga., at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.

Preliminary races will begin every day at 9:30 a.m. Finals will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Diving events will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday and Saturday, but will be a part of the swimming finals on Sunday.

The finals on all three days and the diving events on Friday will be broadcast on the SEC Network Plus. A link to the stream and live results can be accessed on VirginiaSports.com.

The No. 16 Cavalier women will compete against No. 4 Michigan, No. 5 Georgia and No. 6 California, while the No. 23 Virginia men will face No. 2 California, No. 4 Michigan, No. 10 Auburn and No. 12 Georgia. Harvard and UCLA will compete in the diving competitions, but will not compete in swimming.

Heading into the weekend, senior Caitlin Cooper (Atlanta, Ga.) holds the nation’s eighth fastest 50-yard freestyle time (22.22), while senior Jennifer Marrkand (Westford, Mass.) ranks 15th in the 200-yard butterfly (1:56.63). On the men’s side, junior Sam Magnan (Bethlehem, Pa.) ranks 24th in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:10.59) and 16th in the 1650-yard freestyle (15:10.90).

Last time out at the Frank Elm Invitational, junior Kylie Towbin (New Canaan, Conn.) set a UVA record in the platform (270.05).
