ITHACA, N.Y.- Both the Virginia men’s and women’s squash teams recorded 9-0 wins on Sunday (Dec. 3) in Ithaca, N.Y., at the Belkin Squash Courts. The No. 13 Virginia women’s team (3-5) defeated No. 23 St. Lawrence (0-2), while the No. 17 men’s team (5-4) topped No. 26 Hobart (5-3).

“We ended the season with two good wins today over Hobart and St. Lawrence and solid momentum from yesterday’s performances,” head coach Mark Allen said. “Fourth-year captains Mason Blake and Carey Danforth turned in superb performances to help lead us to the victories. Overall, we feel very confident in the way our seasons are shaping up and we look forward to getting back on the court in January.”

The women’s team won all nine matches in three games. Freshman Emily Woodworth (Weston, Mass.) recorded the team’s first point in position three, defeating Losangela Batista, 11-4, 11-1, 11-5, followed by an 11-3, 11-4, 11-3 win from sophomore Isabelle Ezratty (Greenwich, Conn.) in position nine against Katie Walsh and an 11-3, 11-3, 11-6 win from junior Annie Tyson (Flourtown, Pa.) in position six against Cindy Ama Yao, respectively. Sophomore Tara Arya (Cupertino, Calif.) defeated Alexandra Infante in position two, 11-4, 11-1, 11-2, while junior Molly Prockop (Groton, Mass.) captured the team’s fifth point with a win in position eight against Allie Brazo, 11-6, 11-6, 11-6.

The Cavaliers rounded out the match with wins from sophomore Julia Thompson (Newtown Square, Pa.) in position one, sophomore Sarah Doss (Richmond, Va.) in position five, senior Carey Danforth (Greenwich, Conn.) in position four and freshman Sara Keene (Wellesley Mass.) in position seven, respectively.

On the men’s side, freshman Chris Dalglish (Fort Washington, Pa.) secured the first point with an 11-7, 11-4, 11-6, win against Matthew Frantz in position six. Junior Jarett Odrich (Greenwich, Conn.) defeated Ilyas Khan, 11-4, 11-5, 11-5, in position three, while sophomore Harrison Kapp (Philadelphia, Pa.) topped Trevor Laing, 11-3, 11-9, 11-6, in position nine and junior James Dudzik (Greenwich, Conn.) topped Cameron Adams, 11-4, 11-4, 11-6, in position eight, respectively. Freshman Matthew Katz (Baltimore, Md.) recorded the team’s fifth point in position five, defeating Divine Wing 11-1, 11-7, 11-4.

The men’s team rounded out the match with wins from sophomore Toby Hansford (Darien, Conn.) in position two, freshman David Brenman (Philadelphia, Pa.) in position seven, junior Grayson Bubrosky (New Canaan, Conn.) in position four and senior Mason Blake (Philadelphia, Pa.) in position one.

The Cavaliers will return to action on January 7 against Princeton in Princeton, N.J.
