Men’s Results: Boston College | Duke | North Carolina
Women’s Results: North Carolina | Boston College | Fordham

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The Virginia men’s and women’s squash teams swept their matches at the Home Round Robin on Saturday (Feb. 3) at the McArthur Squash Center in Charlottesville, Va.

“It was a fun and packed day of squash at McArthur Squash Center,” head coach Mark Allen said. “We haven’t had the opportunity to play at home that often this season, so I know all of our players, men and women, relished the chance to play on our own courts. The men have one more match tomorrow and the women have two in order to complete this weekend’s round robin event, and then we will be setting our sights on some hard training in preparation for the national championships, which are just around the corner now. It’s been a real pleasure to host all 10 of the visiting teams and it’s an event that I hope we can put together again next year.”

The Cavaliers went undefeated during the day as the No. 12 women’s team (10-8) defeated North Carolina, Boston College and Fordham, respectively, while the No. 14 Cavalier men’s team (13-6) topped Boston College, Duke and North Carolina, respectively. Virginia recorded a 9-0 score in all six matches.

The women’s team blanked all 27-individual matches, with players recording 3-0 scores in each position.

Additionally, sophomore Sarah Doss (Richmond, Va.) and senior Grey Sylvester (New York, N.Y.) recorded a perfect game. Doss defeated Audrey McCamy-Miller from North Carolina 11-0, 11-0, 11-0 in position three, while Sylvester topped North Carolina’s Eleanor Fayette Plambeck 11-0, 11-0, 11-0 at position nine.

On the men’s side, the team captured a 3-0 score in 26 of 27 individual matches.

The Cavaliers will return to action tomorrow, concluding the Home Round Robin. The men’s team will compete against Vanderbilt at 11 a.m., while the women’s team faces California at 9:30 a.m. and Johns Hopkins at 12:30 p.m.
