Tallahassee, Fla. – The No. 16 Virginia women’s golf team posted a tie for third place at the Florida State Match-Up, the team’s first tournament of the spring. The Cavaliers shot 6-under 282 during Saturday’s final round for a 54-hole total of 9-under 855. UVA’s final score and result against par tied for the third best in program history.

No. 7 South Carolina took home the team title by shooting 16-under 848. No. 13 Michigan State was second at 853.

Junior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) led UVA with a seventh-place showing. She shot 2-under 70 on Saturday and finished at 5-under 211. It was the fifth top-10 performance of her career.

Junior Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) posted the best 18-hole score of her career, firing 4-under 68, to move up to 10th place at 2-under 214. It was her best collegiate finish and her best 54-hole score as a Cavalier.

Junior Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) also shot under-par for UVA. She turned in a score of 2-under 70 and ended the tournament 15th at even par 216. That matched her best career tournament score.

Freshman Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) was 24th at 219 and sophomore Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was 34th at 223. Senior Lyndsey Hunnell (Troutville, Va.) competed as an individual and finished 60th at 236. Junior Ju Hee Bae also played as an individual and was 64th at 239.

The Cavaliers return to action March 2-4 when they travel to the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
