UVA Finishes Fourth at Burns Intercollegiate

Lihu’e, Hawaii – The Virginia men’s golf team moved up two spots during the final day of play at the John Burns Intercollegiate to finish tied for fourth place. The Cavaliers shot 1-under 287 during Saturday’s final round for a three-day total of 6-under 858. UVA shared fourth place with Arizona.
No. 4 Texas A&M posted a final round score of 14-under 274 to take home the team title at 29-under 835.
Junior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) led Virginia for the second consecutive day, shooting 3-under 69 to finish in fifth place at 6-under 210. It was Walsh’s seventh top-10 finish during his career. After shooting 1-over 73 in the first round, he played his final 36 holes at 7-under par.
Sophomore Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C) posted his best finish as a Cavalier. He shot 1-under 71 and ended play in seventh place at 4-under 212. His only other top-10 finish came last year at the same tournament. Orischak shot under par during all three rounds in Hawaii.
Senior Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) and sophomore Ashton Poole (Charlotte, N.C.) tied for 43rd place at 3-over 219. Both players shot 2-over 74 during the final round.
Freshman WeiWei Gao (Cebu City, Philippines) placed 64th at 224. He was a counter during UVA’s final round, carding a score of 1-over 73.
UVA returns to action March 5-6 at the Cleveland Palmetto tournament in Aiken, S.C.
