CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –The No. 14 Virginia men’s squash team (14-6) will compete in the opening round of the Hoehn Cup, the B Division of the College Squash Association’s National Championships, against No. 11 Western Ontario (8-2) at 1 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 23) at Trinity’s Kellner Squash Courts in Hartford, Conn.

The men’s national championships are divided into eight divisions with eight teams competing for each cup. The Hoehn Cup will feature teams ranked 9-16 in the latest CSA poll.

In addition to the Western Mustangs, the Cavaliers will compete against No. 9 Yale, No. 10 George Washington, No. 12 Drexel, No. 13 Brown, No. 15 Cornell and No. 16 Navy.

Virginia enters the weekend on a nine-match winning streak, which includes defeating Brown, MIT, Middlebury and Williams. At the Home Round Robin, the Cavaliers swept Boston College, Duke, North Carolina and Vanderbilt. The team finished as tournament champions, winning all four matches 9-0.

The Western Mustangs enter with six consecutive wins. In the Ontario University Athletics Squash Championships, Western Ontario defeated McMaster, Brock, Guelph and Toronto with 9-0 victories, recording the program’s 35th consecutive OUA championship.

Friday’s match will be the first meeting this season between the two programs.
