UVA Opens Play at Darius Rucker Intercollegiate

Hilton Head, S.C. – The Virginia women’s golf team shot 17-over 301 and is in 16th place following the opening round of play at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C. Alabama fired 2-over 286 to lead the field.

Virginia was led by junior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.), who shot 1-over 72. She completed her round in 15th place. Freshman Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) is in 23rd place after carding a round of 73. Junior Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) is in 32nd place with a score of 74. Junior Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) posted a score of 82 to stand 89th while sophomore Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) is 92nd at 89. Sophomore Kate Harper (Isle of Palms, S.C.), competing as an individual, is in 93rd place after shooting 94.
