Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia men’s golf team wraps up its Spring Break trip with an appearance at the 17th annual General Hackler Championship at the par-72, 7,233-yard Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The 54-hole tournament takes place Saturday and Sunday.
The first two rounds of the event will be played on Saturday. The tournament will conclude with a single round on Sunday.
In addition to host Coastal Carolina and Virginia, this year’s field includes Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, Kentucky, East Tennessee State, South Carolina, North Florida, Kent State, LSU, Princeton and NC State.
Virginia’s lineup features senior Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) junior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.), sophomore Ashton Poole and freshman Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.). Sophomore Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) or freshman WeiWei Gao (Cebu City, Philippines) will round out UVA’s lineup.
UVA is coming off a first-place finish at the Palmetto Intercollegiate earlier in the week. Walsh (third), Massie (fifth) and Walker (seventh) all placed in the top-10 at that tournament. Walsh leads the team with a 71.17 stroke average.
