Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia men’s golf team plays its third tournament in two weeks when the Cavaliers compete at the Linger Longer Invitational at the par-72, 7,073-yard Great Waters at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga. The 54-hole tournament runs Sunday through Tuesday. Split tees will be used each day with play starting at 8:30 a.m.
This year’s tournament field also includes Akron, Alabama, Augusta, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Georgia, Kennesaw State, Mercer, Michigan, Middle Tennessee State, Ohio State, Penn State, Troy and UNCG.
Virginia’s lineup features seniors junior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.), senior Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) and sophomores Luke Schaap (Potomac, Md.), Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) and Ashton Poole (Charlotte, N.C.). Freshman Brandon Yoon (Ashburn, Va.) will compete as an individual.
Virginia placed second at last year’s event at 18-under 846. Walsh currently leads UVA in stroke average at 71.19. The Cavaliers have posted top-four finishes in all three of their spring tournaments this season.
