Greensboro, Ga. – The No. 44 Virginia men’s golf team is in sixth place following the opening round of play at the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga. The Cavaliers shot 2-under 286 at the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee. Georgia leads the 16-team field after finishing the first 18 holes at 16-under 272.

Senior Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) and junior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) led UVA by shooting 1-under 71. They are tied for 20th place.

Sophomores Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) and Ashton Poole (Charlotte, N.C.) share 30th place after posting rounds of even par 72. Sophomore Luke Schaap (Potomac, Md.) shot 75 and is in 60th place. Freshman Brandon Yoon, competing as an individual, is in 84th place with a 79.

The second round of the tournament is set for Monday and the final round takes place Tuesday. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
