UVA Opens LSU Tiger Classic in Fifth Place

Baton Rouge, La. – The 25th-ranked Virginia women’s golf team shot 25-over 313 in windy player conditions to finish the first round of the LSU Tiger Golf Classic in fifth place. Houston leads the 12-team field at 9-over 297.
UVA was led by a trio of players who shot 6-over 78 during the opening round. Sophomore Freshman Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) was joined by juniors Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) and Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) in finishing 22nd after the opening round.
Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) posted a round of 79 to place 29th while junior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) is in 46th place after shooting 82. Senior Maho Hayakawa (St. Mary’s, Fla.), who is competing as an individual, is in 37th place in stroke play after finishing with a score of 8-over 80.
