Charlottesville, Va. – The No. 26 Virginia women’s golf team wraps up its regular season this weekend when the Cavaliers compete at the 21st annual Bryan National Collegiate held on the Champions Course at Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center. The 54-hole tournament is scheduled to run Friday, April 6 through Sunday, April 8. Due to anticipated inclement weather in the area, this year’s format has been altered to include 36 holes of play on Friday. The final round will take place on either Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
The tournament is UVA’s final regular season event before the ACC Championships, set for April 21-23.
The 18-team field includes Auburn, Charlotte, Clemson, Colorado State, Furman, Georgetown, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, NC State, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCF, UNCG and Wake Forest.
Virginia has won the tournament in three of the past five years (2013, 2015 and 2016). Last season the Cavaliers finished 10th.
Virginia’s lineup for this year’s tournament includes juniors Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas), Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) and Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.), sophomore Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and freshman Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.). Junior Jue Hee Bae (Chantilly, Va.) and redshirt freshman Kate Harper (Isle of Palm, S.C.) will also compete as individuals.
Redding leads UVA with a 72.35 stroke average while Lillie is second on the team at 72.70. Patrick was the Cavaliers’ top finisher in their last outing, placing fifth at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic.
The Cavaliers are paired with Tennessee and South Carolina during the opening round. They will tee off starting at 8:30 a.m. using a shotgun start.
