UVA Stands Fifth After 36 Holes at Koch Invitational

Gastonia, N.C. – The No. 45 Virginia men’s golf team is in fifth place after the first two rounds of play at the Gary Koch Invitational in Gastonia, N.C. The Cavaliers posted rounds of 293 and 286 to finish the first day of play at 3-over 579. Auburn leads the 13-team field at 549.
UVA was led by junior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.), who stands sixth at 5-under 139. He had scores of 4-under 68 and 1-under 71. Senior Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) is in 20th place at 1-under 143. Walker posted rounds of 69 and 74. Sophomore Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) is in 42nd place at 148. He shot 78 during the morning round and then fired 2-under 70 in the afternoon.
UVA freshman Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.) is in 49th place at 149 and classmate WeiWei Gao (Cebu City, Philippines) is 67th at 155. Sophomore Ashton Poole (Charlotte, N.C.), who is competing as an individual, is also tied for 42nd place at 148.
