CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia’s Second Varsity Eight was named Atlantic Coast Conference Crew of the Week Tuesday (April 17).

The Cavaliers’ 2V8 crew captured the championship of the Clemson Invitational, posting a time of 6:17.57 in the Grand Final on Lake Hartwell in Clemson. Virginia defeated six ranked teams in the finals, including crews from No. 4 Ohio State, No. 12 Wisconsin, No. 13 USC, No 15 Washington State, No. 17 Indiana and No. 20 Oklahoma.

UVA’s Second Varsity Eight also won its first two heats of the weekend, posting a time of 6:33.37 on Friday, defeating No. 15 Washington State, No. 20 Oklahoma, Minnesota, UCF, Navy and Tennessee. Virginia’s 2V8 then had a 6:25.44 clocking on Saturday morning in besting No. 17 Indiana, No. 18 Syracuse, No. 20 Oklahoma, Tulsa, Oregon State and Boston University.

The Virginia Second Varsity Eight is composed of coxswain Adi Hendlin (Tallahassee, Fla.), stroke Reilly White (Wyckoff, N.J.), seven-seat Emily Ashton (Albany, N.Y.), six-seat Jamey Bulloch (Johannesburg, South Africa), five-seat Alex Slabbert (Cos Cob, Conn.), four-seat Morgan Rosts (Jordan, Ontario), three-seat Georgia Gray (Seattle, Wash.), two-seat Martine van den Boomgaard (Amsterdam, Netherlands) and bow Carrie Warner (East London, South Africa).

The No. 9 Cavaliers host No. 4 Princeton on Saturday (April 21) at Lake Monticello. First race is schedule for 9 a.m.
