CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Juniors Grayson Bubrosky (New Canaan, Conn.) and Madeleine Mayhew (New York, N.Y.) were named 2018 College Squash Association Scholar Athletes, as announced by the association.

Bubrosky finished the season with an 8-8 overall record, concluding the year in the No. 4 position for the Cavaliers. Bubrosky advanced to the consolation finals of the CSA Individual Championships, suffering a loss to Trinity’s Aryaman Adik. At the team championships, Bubroksy recorded a win over Drexel, downing Illia Pressman in three games to help the team advance to the consolation finals of the Hoehn Cup.

Mayhew posted a 9-7 overall record, playing the majority of her matches in the No. 7 position. She won two of her three matches in the Kurtz Cup, helping the team finish as consolation champions in the CSA B-Division. She defeated Middlebury’s Emily Beinkampen and George Washington’s Brooke Feldman in three games during the tournament.

The Scholar Athlete Award is granted to juniors or seniors who have played on the team throughout their college career, participated in the majority of the team’s matches in the top-10 of the lineup during the season and achieved a high academic standing at their institution. Student-athletes must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher to be eligible.
