Greensboro, N.C. – The No. 33 Virginia women’s golf team posted the second-best score of the final round at the ACC Championships to move up to a fourth-place finish. The Cavaliers shot 2-over 290 in the chilly and damp conditions at Grandover Resort’s East Course in Greensboro, N.C. UVA finished the 54-hole event at 21-over 885.

Duke captured the team title at 15-under 849. It was the Blue Devils’ second consecutive title and their 21st overall in the championship’s 30th season.

UVA was led by freshman Beth Lillie (Fullerton, Calif.) who tied for fifth at even par 216. Lillie shot 3-under 69 during the final round, the second-best score by any player on Monday. It was her second top-10 showing this season. Lillie’s finish was the second best by any freshman in the field.

Junior Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) shot 2-under 70 during the final round to place 12th at 3-over 219. Junior Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) was 16th overall at 4-over 220. She posted a pair of birdies on her final two holes to shoot 74. Sophomore Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was 44th at 230 and junior Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) was 52nd at 235.

The ACC Championships also signified the women’s golf matchup between Virginia and Virginia Tech in the Commonwealth Clash, sponsored by Virginia529, the official college savings plan of University of Virginia Athletics. Virginia won the point at stake in the all-sports rivalry series between the two schools. Virginia Tech finished the ACC Championships in 11th place at 35-over 899.
