Charlottesville, Va. – Virginia junior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Golfer of the Month for April. Walsh won the 2018 ACC Individual Championship in April at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C. and also had top-10 finishes at the Yale Spring Invitational and the Gary Koch Invitational.

At the ACC Championships, Walsh shot 16-under 200 to take top honors by two strokes. He had rounds of 67, 65 and 68 and recorded just one bogey during three days of play. His 54-hole score was the lowest in the 65-year history of the tournament. The victory was also the first for Walsh as a collegiate player and automatically earned him a spot on the All-ACC team.

Walsh placed seventh at the Yale Spring Invitational and was sixth at the Koch Invitational. During the month, Walsh was under par in seven of his eight rounds and averaged a score of 69.4 strokes per round during those three events.

Walsh and the Cavaliers will learn their NCAA Regional destination Wednesday (May 2) night when the NCAA announces the field for its 2018 championship.
