Charlottesville, Va. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today Virginia junior men’s golfer Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) has been named to the 2018 All-ACC team.

Walsh received the honor automatically by winning the 2018 ACC Individual Championship. Had he not done so, he would have also been recognized based on the league’s selection criteria. The All-ACC Team, Player and Freshman of the Year were decided by a combination of the Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin rankings in conjunction with a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches, while Coach of the Year was selected by a vote of the coaches.

Walsh took medalist honors at the ACC Championship by shooting a tournament-record 16-under 200 at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C. It was the first collegiate win of his career. Walsh leads Virginia with a 70.65 stroke average. He ranks No. 58 in the current Golfstat standings and is No. 74 in the Golfweek individual poll.

Walsh and the Cavaliers open play at the NCAA Regional in Norman, Okla., on Monday, May 14.
