No. 7 Virginia seeks its ninth consecutive ACC title at the 19th annual ACC Rowing Championship Sunday (May 13) on Lake Hartwell in Clemson, S.C.

It is the fourth consecutive year the conference regatta has been expanded to five events after having four events contested for the first 15 ACC regattas.

Preliminaries are scheduled to begin at 8:05 a.m. Sunday with the Varsity Eight, followed by the Second Varsity Eight, Varsity Four, Second Varsity Four and Third Varsity Eight. Finals are set to begin at 5:35 p.m. with the Third Varsity Eight, followed by the Second Varsity Four, Varsity Four, Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Eight.

The 2018 ACC Rowing Championship preliminaries and finals will be available live on ACC Network Extra, which is available to authenticated subscribers of ESPN3 through WatchESPN and the ESPN app. ACC Network Extra is also linked at VirginiaSports.com.

Eleven-time ACC Coach of the Year Kevin Sauer and co-captains Ali Zwicker (Victoria, British Columbia) and Anna Fairs (Thorpe Thewles, England) lead Virginia into this weekend’s regatta. UVA has won eight straight conference titles and 17 of the 18 ACC championship regattas. The Cavaliers have captured 68 of the previous 75 events at the conference level.

Virginia will row in the first heat as the No. 1 seed in the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Varsity Four, Second Varsity Four and Third Varsity Eight.

UVA is ranked No. 7 in the latest USRowing/Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) national poll, while Notre Dame is No. 17 and Duke is No. 18. Syracuse and Louisville received votes in the poll.
