Movin’ On Up

Congratulations to former #UVABase pitcher Brandon Waddell who has been promoted by the Pirates to Triple-A Indianapolis. He ranked ranked sixth in the Eastern League with a 2.68 ERA and fifth with a .206 BAA. He had been at Altoona since being called up in 2016, helping to lead the Curve to the Eastern League championship last year.  Waddell is the second Cavalier this month to move up to triple-A with Matt Thaiss earning a promotion to Salt Lake last week.

Breaking Barriers

UVA director of Athletics Carla Williams was in New Jersey yesterday, participating in a panel discussion on women in education, politics, and sports with New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy (a Virginia alumna) and Rutgers’ Hall of Fame basketball coach C. Vivian Stringer. #UVAFH head coach Michele Madison was also in attendance for an event held later that evening at the New Jersey governor’s resident, Drumthwacket Mansion, in Princeton, honoring women in sport past, present and future who were “breaking barriers”.
