Charlottesville, Va. – The Virginia State Golf Coaches Association today announced UVA senior Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) and junior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) have been named to the first-team all-state team and that sophomore Ashton Poole (Charlotte, N.C.) was a second-team selection.

The 2018 ACC Individual Champion, Walsh led UVA in stroke average this season at 70.71. Walsh took medalist honors at the ACC Championships by shooting a tournament-record 16-under 200 at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C. It was the first collegiate win of his career. This season he had six top-10 finishes and led UVA with 23 rounds under par. Walsh was UVA’s top finisher in eight of 12 tournaments. Walsh had previously been named to the All-ACC team.

Walker was second on the UVA roster in stroke average at 71.74. He posted 18 rounds of par-or-better during the season. He was the Cavaliers’ top finisher during three tournaments this season and had top-10 performances at Palmetto Intercollegiate, the Yale Spring Invitational and he finished third at the ACC Championships where his 13-under 203 was the best tournament score of his career.

Poole played in all 12 tournaments this year and posted a 72.91 stroke average. He tied for first at the Northern Intercollegiate, shooting a career-best 14-under 202 that included a round of 7-under 65. Poole tied for 12th place at the NCAA Regional along with Walker and Walsh.
