Thomas Walsh Named Third-Team All-American

Virginia men’s golfer Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) has been named a PING Third-Team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America. It marked the second consecutive season he has been honored as an All-American by the group. He was an honorable mention selection in 2017.
It marks the ninth-consecutive season a UVA golfer has earned All-America honors.
The 2018 ACC individual champion, an All-ACC selection and PING All-East Region pick, Walsh led UVA as a senior with a 70.71 stroke average. He finished the season ranked No. 39 by Golfstat and No. 65 by Golfweek.
Wash took medalist honors at the ACC Championships by shooting a tournament-record 16-under 200 at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C. It was the first collegiate win of his career. He had six top-10 finishes and led UVA with 23 rounds under par. Walsh was UVA’s top finisher in eight of 12 tournaments.
Walsh had previously been named to the all-state squad by the Virginia Golf Coaches Association. He also was recognized as a member of the All-ACC Academic team for the third time in his career.
