Virginia senior Danny Walker (Bradenton, Fla.) and junior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) were named to the 2018 Men’s Golf All-ACC Academic Team today (June 21). It marked the third consecutive year both players have received the honor.

The 2018 ACC individual champion, Walsh led UVA in stroke average this season at 70.71. He took medalist honors at the ACC Championships by shooting a tournament-record 16-under 200 at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C. It was the first collegiate win of his career. This season he had six top-10 finishes and led UVA with 23 rounds under par. Walsh was UVA’s top finisher in eight of 12 tournaments. Walsh had previously been named to the All-ACC team and the all-state squad by the Virginia Golf Coaches Association.

Walker was second on the UVA roster in stroke average at 71.74. He posted 18 rounds of par-or-better during the season. He was the Cavaliers’ top finisher during three tournaments this season and had top-10 performances at Palmetto Intercollegiate, the Yale Spring Invitational and he finished third at the ACC Championships where his 13-under 203 was the best tournament score of his career. He joined Walsh on the Virginia Golf Coaches Association all-state squad.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
