FORT WORTH, Texas –Members of the Virginia women’s tennis team opened fall competition on Thursday afternoon in competition at the Big 5 Challenge hosted by TCU. 

Junior Camille Favero (Sacramento, Calif.) returned to the court for the Cavaliers after missing the spring season in 2018. She picked up a 7-5, 7-5 win over Georgia’s Annette Goulak to lead Virginia in day one action at the event.

In all, seven players competed for Virginia on the afternoon with senior Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Maine), juniors Hunter Bleser (New Braunfels, Texas) and Chloe Gullickson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), sophomores Lizzie Baker (Washington, D.C.) and Maya Das (Potomac, Md.), and freshman Amber O’Dell also seeing action.

Play is slated to continue on Friday with both doubles and singles matches. Results will be posted at VirginiaSports.com as soon as they are made available.
