Greer Gill and Lauren Hausheer Named to the US U21 Roster
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Freshman midfielder Greer Gill (Virginia Beach, Va.), sophomore back Rachel Robinson (Mount Joy, Pa.) and sophomore goalie Lauren Hausheer (West Windsor, N.J.) have been named to the roster of the 2019 U.S. U-21 National Field Hockey Team.
Athletes for the U-21 USWNT were selected from the 2018 Young Women’s National Championship in June for further evaluation at last summer’s Junior National Camp and at the December and January training camps. Robinson was added to the roster in February.
This will be Gill’s second stint on the US U-21 team. She also spent two years playing on the U-19 National Team. Gill started all 19 games for the Cavaliers in her rookie season, scoring four goals with an assist for nine points. She was named the ACC Player of the Week for her efforts in the win over No. 2 Maryland.
Hausheer did not play for the Cavaliers in 2018, but had a strong debut in 2017, appearing in eight games and boasting a .950 save percentage.
Robinson had been a member of the U19 Junior National Team since her junior year of high school.
The U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team will meet three times in the next two months for training camps in preparation for their international tour to Germany from April 14-22. In Monchengladbach, the U-21 USWNT will take on Germany’s U-21 Team and Great Britain’s U-21 Team.
