CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Seven Virginia field hockey players were named to the 2018 All-ACC Academic Field Hockey Team, as announced Friday (Feb. 1) by Atlantic Coast Conference commissioner John Swofford.
 
Senior goalkeeper Carrera Lucas (Brooklandville, Md.) earned the honor for the third time in her career. Junior back Anzel Viljoen (Matamata, New Zealand) was voted to the squad for the second-straight year. Senior Greta Ell (Plains, Pa.), junior Erin Shanahan (Pasadena, Md.) and freshmen Amber Ezechiels (Niew-Vennep, Netherlands), Greer Gill (Virginia Beach, Va.) and Grace Wallis (Blue Bell, Pa.) all earned the honor for the first time in their careers.
 
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
 
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
 
Boston College’s Frederique Haverhals was named the ACC Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
