CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The No. 10 Virginia men’s squash team (11-5) opened the second day of competition at the Mid-Atlantic Team Tournament on Saturday (Feb. 2) at the McArthur Squash Center with an 8-1 win against No. 25 Dickinson (3-8), before rallying for a come-from-behind 5-4 victory against No. 15 George Washington (7-10).
 
Senior Grayson Bubrosky (New Canaan, Conn.) captured the first point of the day, defeating Dickinson’s Osuman Imoro 11-7, 11-3, 11-3 in position four. Sophomore William Braff (Locust Valley, N.Y.) followed with a 11-7, 11-4, 12-10 win in position two against Alexander Wattels as freshman Glenn Yates (Cape Town, South Africa) extended the Cavaliers out to a 3-0 start, defeating Tanay Murdia 11-9, 11-9, 11-8 in position six.  
 
Senior Henry Woodworth (Weston, Mass.) topped Zachary Hollander 11-8, 11-9, 11-4 in position eight as an 11-3, 11-4, 11-5 victory against Andrew Strudwick in position seven from senior Jarett Odrich (Greenwich, Conn.) gave the Cavaliers the match point.
 
Senior James Dudzik (Greenwich, Conn.) added a win in position nine, defeating Graham Henderson 16-14, 11-3, 11-4, while sophomore Andrew Braff(Locust Valley, N.Y.) defeated Cory Litman 11-7, 11-6, 10-12, 11-5 in position five and junior Toby Hansford (Darien, Conn.) defeated Hal Holppa 5-11, 13-11, 9-11, 12-10, 12-10 in position three.
 
Virginia faced George Washington tonight for the second time in two weeks, battling the Colonials to a 5-4 victory.
 
George Washington jumped out to an early 4-1 lead as Yates’s 11-3, 11-1, 11-7 win in position two against Benjamin Sim was the team’s lone point in the first five matches of play.
 
The Cavaliers battled for the remaining four positions, forcing each court into a fifth-game, beginning with a 9-11, 11-9, 11-6, 10-12, 11-8 win against Julian Jervis from Andrew Braff in position five.
 
Senior Killian Bubrosky (New Canaan, Conn.) topped Lucas Stauffer 11-7, 5-11, 9-11, 11-7, 14-12 to claim position nine, while Hansford battle for a 14-12, 7-11, 12-10, 5-11, 11-5 win against Salim Khan in position three.
 
After falling behind 2-1, Odrich rallied for an 11-1, 8-11, 10-12, 11-8, 15-13 victory over Juan Laguna, clinching the match for the Cavaliers.
 
Virginia will conclude the Mid-Atlantic Team Tournament tomorrow, facing No. 16 Franklin and Marshall at 1:30 p.m.
