No. 9 Virginia Sweeps Bucknell
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The No. 9 Virginia men’s squash team (15-5) concluded its regular season on Saturday (Feb. 9) at the McArthur Squash Center, sweeping Bucknell (6-5), 9-0, in the Cavaliers’ lone match at the Virginia Home Round Robin.
Sophomores David Brenman (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Christian Kohlmeyer (Lake Forest, Ill.) captured the opening two points of the match as Brenman defeated Kyle Ferguson 11-9, 11-2, 11-0 in position nine and Kohlmeyer topped Richard Fitzgerald 11-6, 11-4, 11-3 in position eight.
Senior Killian Bubrosky (New Canaan, Conn.) won 11-1, 11-5, 11-5 in position six against Jack Buendia as senior Jarett Odrich (Greenwich, Conn.) added an 11-5, 11-4, 11-6 win in position four against Matt Myer to make the score 4-0.
Senior Grayson Bubrosky (New Canaan, Conn.) clinched the match point with his 11-3, 11-7, 11-7 victory in position two against Giovanni Matarazzo.
Junior Harrison Kapp (Philadelphia, Pa.) and senior James Dudzik (Greenwich, Conn.) recorded back-to-back wins in positions seven and five, respectively. Kapp topped Bryan Yekelchick 11-7, 11-8-11-4, while Dudzik defeated Matt Myers 11-5, 11-4, 11-6.
Freshman Glenn Yates (Cape Town, South Africa) recorded an 11-7, 11-6, 11-7 win in position three against Riggs Johnson as sophomore William Braff (Locust Valley, N.Y.) closed the match with a 11-7, 11-1, 11-5 victory against Delancey McFadden at the top of the ladder.
The match concludes the regular season for the Cavaliers as Virginia awaits seeding for the CSA Team Championships (Feb. 15-17) in New Haven, Conn.
