UVA in 14th Place at John Burns Intercollegiate

Lihu’e, Hawaii – The Virginia men’s golf team opened its spring schedule Thursday at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Lihue, Hawaii. The Cavaliers shot 4-over 292 and completed the day in tied for 14th place in the 20-team field. BYU carded the day’s best round, finishing at 8-under 280.
Virginia was led by junior Ashton Poole (Charlotte, N.C.) who shot 2-under 70 and is tied for ninth place after the opening 18 holes. Junior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) is in 22nd place after opening with a 1-under 71.
UVA senior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) is 57th at 2-over 74 and sophomore WeiWei Gao (Cebu, Philippines) and freshman David Morgan (Naples, Fla.) are tied for 86th at 5-over 77.
The 54-hole event runs through Saturday.
