Charlottesville, VA – The Virginia men’s golf team opens its spring break trip by playing at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate in Aiken, S.C. at the historic Palmetto Golf Club. The tournament runs Monday and Tuesday.
 
Format: The 54-hole tournament features 36 holes of play on Monday and a single round Tuesday. A shotgun start gets the tournament started Monday at 8:30 a.m. The Palmetto Golf Club, which was founded in 1892, is a par-70 course with the yardage set at 6,617 yards.

Last Year: Virginia won the tournament by shooting even par 840. Georgia Southern was the runner-up at 849. Thomas Walsh led UVA with a third-place finish at 2-under 208. Jimmie Massie placed fifth at 1-under 209. In 2017, the Cavaliers were the runners-up at the tournament as senior Derek Bard took medalist honors.
 
UVA Notes: Senior All-American Thomas Walsh led UVA in scoring in all four fall tournaments. He topped off his fall with a win at the Inverness Invitational. Walsh is the reigning ACC individual champion. He competed in the Sun Bowl All-American Classic in November where he placed 14th. Walsh has shot par or better in 13 of 15 rounds this season.
