Mayhew Named CSA Scholar Athlete
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- Virginia senior Madeleine Mayhew (New York, N.Y.) was named a College Squash Association Scholar Athlete for the 2018-19 season. The honor is the second for Mayhew, who received the honor last season.
Mayhew concluded the year with a 9-1 record, winning her last six matches of the year. She recorded two wins in the Mid-Atlantic Team Championships, defeating then 20th-ranked Franklin and Marshall and 18th-ranked Dickinson to help the Cavaliers top the tournament. Mayhew also recorded wins against No. 9 Drexel and No. 7 Columbia.
The Scholar Athlete Award (varsity team players) and Academic Recognition Award (club team players) is granted to juniors or seniors who have played on the team throughout their college career, participated in the majority of the team’s matches in the top-10 of the lineup during the season, and achieved a high academic standing at their institution. Student-athletes must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher to be eligible.
