UVA Opens Play at Linger Longer Invitational
Greensboro, Ga. – The Virginia men’s golf team shot 10-over 298 and it tied for 13th place after the opening round of play at the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga. Louisville leads the field at 10-under 278.
UVA’s top round was produced by senior Ashton Poole (Charlotte, N.C.), who is competing as an individual and does not count toward the Cavaliers’ team score. He shot 3-under 69 and is in sixth place.
For Virginia’s team scorers, sophomore Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.) and junior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) are tied for 32nd at 1-over 73. Senior Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) and freshman David Morgan (Naples, Fla.) are tied for 59th at 76. Freshman Jack Montague (Manakin-Sabot, Va.) is in 72nd place with a 79.
The second round of the tournament is set for Saturday and the final round takes place Monday. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
