UVA Rowers Open Spring Season at Oak Ridge Invite
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia rowing team opens the 2019 spring season on Saturday-Sunday (March 16-17) at the Oak Ridge Cardinal Invitational on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
The two-day event will feature morning and afternoon racing on Saturday as well as morning racing on Sunday. Racing on the 2,000-meter course at the Melton Lake Rowing Venue is slated to begin at 9 a.m. each day, while Saturday’s afternoon session is slated to begin at 2:30 p.m.
Real-time results for the event will be provided through the Louisville rowing twitter account (@UofLRowing), while final results at the end of each day will be published on HereNow.com, Row2K.com and VirginiaSports.com.
The Cavaliers will have five crews competing in three sessions over the two days. On Saturday morning, UVA boats will race against Minnesota and Miami. On Saturday afternoon, the Cavaliers will race Yale and Alabama. On Sunday, Virginia will compete against Tulsa and Louisville. UVA won 12 of 17 races during the two-day event to start the 2018 season.
