Shoemaker Tabbed IWLCA National Player of the Week
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Senior Avery Shoemaker (Wyndmoor, Pa.) has been named the Division I National Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the IWLCA on Wednesday (March 27).
Shoemaker earned ACC Player of the Week honors after scoring seven goals with three assists in UVA’s wins over No. 7 JMU and No. 13 Duke last week.
Shoemaker averaged 3.50 goals per game and 5.00 points per game to help lead No. 7 Virginia to two wins over ranked opponents last week. Shoemaker had a game-high six points on five goals, including the game-winner, and one assist in the win at then-No. 7 James Madison. She was 5-for-6 in shots on goal and went 3-for-3 on free positions at JMU.
Shoemaker then had four points, scoring two goals with two assists in the win over then-No. 13 Duke. She scored a goal and had one assist in UVA’s 10-1 run to start the game. Shoemaker also had a draw control in the win.
Virginia will be on the road this week at No. 1 Boston College on Saturday, March 30 at noon in Newton, Mass.
