Walsh Fires 68 to Lead UVA at Clemson Invitational
Salem, S.C. – The Virginia men’s golf team remains in fifth place following the second round of play at the Clemson Invitational at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls in Salem, S.C. The Cavaliers posted a second-round score of 5-under 283 for a two-day total of 8-under 567. Georgia Tech leads the 15-team field at 33-under 543.
Senior All-American Thomas Walsh (High Point, N.C.) shot 4-under 68 to lead UVA on Saturday. He moved up to 16th place with a two-day total of 3-under 141. Junior Andrew Orischak (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) is UVA’s overall leader in 12th place at 4-under 140. He shot 2-under 70 for the second consecutive round.
Sophomore Jimmie Massie (Lynchburg, Va.) and senior Ashton Poole (Charlotte, N.C.) are tied for 28th place at even par 144. Poole had a 72 during the second round while Massie shot 74. Sophomore WeiWei Gao (Cebu, Philippines) is in 34th place at 1-over 145. He had a second-round score of 73.
Sophomore Max Siegfried (Villanova, Pa.), who is competing as an individual, shot 75 and is in 54th place at 5-over 149.
The tournament wraps up Sunday. UVA will be paired with Clemson and Furman for the final round. They tee off starting at 9:50 a.m. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
