CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia softball sophomore Hayley Busby (Phoenix, Ariz.) was tabbed the ACC Player of the Week on Tuesday (April 30). The honor is Busby’s first and the second for a Cavalier this season.

Busby earned the honor after hitting .550 over Virginia’s five games last week, including going 7-for-13 in the sweep of NC State. The third baseman produced four multi-hit games in the week and added a multi-homer game.

At No. 20 JMU, Busby went 3-for-4 with a triple against Megan Good. She followed that with a 3-for-4 night to open the NC State series, adding two RBI to her ledger. In game two against the Wolfpack, Busby launched two home runs to lead the Cavaliers to a series-clinching victory. She had four RBI in the 8-5 win.

Busby finished the week 11-for-20 at the plate with a double, triple and two home runs. She led the Cavaliers with six RBI in the five games. The sophomore is also riding a career high 11-game hitting streak.

Virginia and Busby return to action this afternoon against Hampton in the regular season finale at The Park. The first game of the doubleheader is slated for 4 p.m.
