CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia softball (22-30, 8-16 ACC) returns to the ACC Softball Championship for the second time in the past three seasons, earning the No. 10 seed. The Cavaliers will face No. 7 seed Georgia Tech (30-26, 11-13 ACC) in the first round at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8 in Tallahassee, Fla.

Virginia has faced Georgia Tech 17 times in ACC tournament action, posting an 8-9 record against the Yellow Jackets in postseason play. The two teams last met in the postseason in 2012 when Georgia Tech claimed a 6-4 win in the opening round. Virginia’s last ACC tournament win came in 2011 against the Yellow Jackets.
