CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia softball senior Lacy Smith (Lancaster, Pa.) was named an All-ACC first team selection, as announced by the league office on Tuesday (May 7).

Smith is the second Cavalier to earn first team recognition since 2010, joining Katie Park who earned the honor in 2017. The Virginia first baseman hit .400 in ACC play this season, ranking fifth in the league.

Smith cranked out six doubles and six home runs in ACC games to produce a slugging percentage of .743. The six homers were tied for sixth in the league while her slugging percentage ranked fourth.

At the end of the regular season, Smith had top 10 marks in nine single-season categories at Virginia. She set the school record by hitting 15 home runs this season and currently holds a .788 slugging percentage, which would also set the UVA record. Along with her 15 homers, Smith has roped 15 doubles as part of her .413 batting average. The mark ranks third all-time at Virginia and makes Smith the first Cavalier to hit over .400 since 2007.

Her 43 RBI this season are the eighth most in Cavalier history and the most since 2010. Smith also set the school record this season by hitting in 16 consecutive games.

The All-ACC honor is the first of Smith’s career. She and the Cavaliers open play at the ACC Softball Championship on Wednesday, May 8 against Georgia Tech in a 3:30 p.m. first pitch.
